Our History
In 2008, Dweller West was launched as a solution to the traditional building method. Our design-build-grow model creates a more sustainable and cost effective result, producing better buildings and satisfied clients.
Dweller West’s managing officers; Derrick and Jeffrey, have had extensive experience working with the traditional design-bid-build delivery method and knew there is a better way to build. Out of those experiences came the idea for Dweller West.
Historically, the traditional design-bid-build project focuses on awarding construction to a low bid contractor, rather than best value. In practice, the lowest initial contract price does not automatically result in the lowest final price or best value to the client. Often these projects are plagued by mismanagement and change orders, increasing budgets and adding schedule delays. Furthermore, the general contractor and key subcontractors have no involvement in the design process and are completely unaware of the initial scope, constraints, and intent of the design already approved for construction.
